In the first two Nemesis games, crews found themselves trapped with aliens. Nemesis: Retaliation flips the script with a few bold changes.
Now, you step into the boots of heavily armed marines, marching straight into the alien nest by choice.
The weapons are upgraded. The team is trained. Orders are clear, and confidence runs high that this mission will finally go as planned. The aliens, however, are not impressed.
This Time, You Are the Marines
Nemesis: Retaliation is a standalone game for one to five players and the third entry in Awaken Realms’ sci-fi horror series. No previous Nemesis experience is required.
Players command a squad of elite marines as they storm an alien facility. Each marine arrives with unique gear and abilities, and a tactical belt loaded with ammo, grenades, medical kits, and oxygen.
Burst fire gives marines a chance to tear through groups of Intruders instead of treating every alien encounter like an immediate invitation to run. The extra firepower feels good right up until the squad remembers that ammunition is limited and the nest has no shortage of replacements.
The Facility Does Not Come with a Map
With the facility constantly shifting, every session becomes its own disaster story. A vital room might appear just in time, or the way forward could already be ablaze. One player may stumble upon the escape route while another quietly plots to make sure no one else gets out.
Nemesis: Retaliation encourages teamwork, but secret objectives leave plenty of space for betrayal. The marine guarding your back today might be the reason the door stays shut tomorrow.
A Few Orders Before Deployment
Advance with caution whenever possible. Though it costs more, a careful move drops a Secure token that can soak up the first attack if an Intruder bursts in. Saving an action now is rarely worth the risk of being ambushed before the real trouble starts.
Think of the tactical belt as a strategy, not just a last-minute grab bag. Ammo keeps your guns firing, oxygen opens up new routes, and medical supplies become priceless once the facility starts chewing through the team. Coordinate your gear so the squad does not end up with five marines all ready for the same crisis.
Explore while you still have resources to spare. Uncovering a new part of the facility with nothing left in reserve is a perfect way to meet an alien and instantly become its easiest prey.
Burst fire is perfect for mowing down crowds, but every squeeze of the trigger drains your precious ammo. Save those cinematic sweeps for targets that truly deserve it. The facility is crawling with aliens and will not be handing out refills.
Finally, work together without letting your guard down. Sharing routes and threats keeps the mission alive, but revealing every detail of your secret objective might just make it easier for someone to stab you in the back.
Heavily Armed Does Not Mean Safe
Designer Adam Kwapiński and Awaken Realms transform Nemesis from desperate survival horror into an action-horror sequel, where marines storm in convinced they have the situation under control.
Retaliation hands players more control in combat, but never lets go of the uncertainty that defines Nemesis. The facility shifts beneath your feet, objectives tug teammates apart, and even the best-equipped marine can meet a spectacular end when the wrong door opens at the worst possible moment.
