Cascadia
Cascadia is a puzzly tile-laying and token-drafting game featuring the habitats and wildlife of the Pacific Northwest. In the game, you take turns building out your own terrain area and populating it with wildlife. You start with three hexagonal habitat tiles (with the five types of habitat in the game), and on a turn you choose a new habitat tile that's paired with a wildlife token, then place that tile next to your other ones and place the wildlife token on an appropriate habitat. (Each tile depicts 1-3 types of wildlife from the five types in the game, and you can place at most one tile on a habitat.) Four tiles are on display, with each tile being paired at random with a wildlife token, so you must make the best of what's available — unless you have a nature token to spend so that you can pick your choice of each item. Ideally you can place habitat tiles to create matching terrain that reduces fragmentation and creates wildlife corridors, mostly because you score for the largest area of each type of habitat at game's end, with a bonus if your group is larger than each other player's. At the same time, you want to place wildlife tokens so that you can maximize the number of points scored by them, with the wildlife goals being determined at random by one of the four scoring cards for each type of wildlife. Maybe hawks want to be separate from other hawks, while foxes want lots of different animals surrounding them and bears want to be in pairs. Can you make it happen?

But every tile that you claim affects what your rivals can take next. You’ll have to make choices that help you without helping them too much!

Choose a cannon for extra firepower, or a cargo hold to transport troops. This flexibility creates awesome counterplay and tactical decision-making. All Skill, No LuckThere are no dice rolls or top decks in GRUNTZ. Face many opponents, learn from your mistakes, and get better until you become the best commander around. Seven Dragons
In Seven Dragons, players start with a secret goal color from the seven colored dragons and a hand of three cards. The Silver Dragon is laid on the table as the starting card; at this stage it is a wild card. The playing cards feature domino-like colored panels in the same manner as Aquarius, an earlier game design from Andy Looney. On a player's turn, he draws one card and plays one from his hand. Cards are laid so as to connect matching colored panels. The deck also includes Action Cards such as Move a Card, Zap a Card, Trade Hands, etc. The used Action Cards form a discard pile, and the top card of this pile dictates the color of the starting Silver Dragon; once the discard pile has started, the Silver Dragon is no longer wild. The first player to create a connected territory of seven panels matching her dragon color wins.

Quixo
Quixo bears a superficial resemblance to Tic-Tac-Toe with one player being crosses and the other circles, and with both trying to create a line of their symbol but that's where the resemblance ends. The pieces in the game are cubes that have a circle on one side, a cross on another, and blank faces on the other four; to set up the game, players place the 25 cubes with blanks face-up on the 5x5 grid in the game board. On a turn, the active player takes a cube that is blank or bearing his symbol from the outer ring of the grid, rotates it so that it shows his symbol (if needed), then adds it to the grid by pushing it into one of the rows from which it was removed. Thus, a few pieces of the grid change places each turn, and the cubes slowly go from blank to crosses and circles. Play continues until someone forms an orthogonal or diagonal line of five cubes bearing his symbol, with this person winning the game.

Iliad
The Trojan War has begun, and both sides of the conflict pursue every advantage they can possibly gain. Two opposing heroes — Hector of the Trojans and Achilles of the Greeks — seek the favor of the gods to lend them support and tip the scales of fate. Only one side will emerge victorious, its hero becoming the legend of the Iliad. Iliad is a tile-placement strategy game for two-players by Reiner Knizia. On your turn, select one of two tiles from your hand and place it onto the board adjacent to an opponent's tile. Both players have symmetrical pools of tiles, with their strength ranging from 1-5, along with the Dolos tile that mimics your opponent's adjacent tiles. The key to victory lies behind the relentless tension of where and when to commit your tiles. When placing a tile, you may also activate the tile's ability, which can serve to turn the tide of war. Compete for the favor of the Gods in this Trojan War strategy game. Position your tiles wisely and utilize their abilities to your advantage to gain the upper hand in claiming success tokens. Decide between competing victory objectives of pleasing the gods versus racking up more successes in the war. Featuring a variable board setup and simple gameplay with tough decisions on every turn. Contents: Game board, 65 punchboard tiles, cloth bag, rulebook.

Bites
Five ants are making their way through a picnic full of food. On your turn, move any ant to the next food in the trail that matches their color, then take the food token directly in front of or behind the ant, saving it to score at the end of the game. However, you don’t know for sure how much the food is going to be worth until the matching ant makes it to the Anthill at the end of the trail. This creates shared incentives as you work with other players to advance some ants and hold others back. Every game is different because cards are drawn from four decks to make a unique set of special rules. These drastically change the goals and strategies so you will never play the same game twice (unless you want to). Your actions will change the incentives for the other players. Can you manage these cascading effects to collect the most valuable food collection? Can you recognize how to change your strategy based on the wildly different rules cards?
